Flamboro Downs and the Ontario Harness Horse Association today announced a 10% purse hike effective
August 21, 2009.
“After meeting with Flamboro Downs management, it was agreed that a 10% increase could be justified,” observed OHHA president Darryl MacArthur. “The current purse structure, account balance and Flamboro projections were some of the factors considered prior to reaching this decision.”
The purse increases will be applied to all classifications beginning with the next published condition sheet.
“Purse account revenues have rebounded nicely after a soft Q4 of 2008 and a weak Q1 this year,” said Chris Roberts, director of racing operations for Flamboro. “We’re optimistic that an increased purse structure can be maintained.”
Flamboro Downs currently races three cards per week, but returns to a five card per week schedule September 1.
