Hanover Raceway is pleased to host the 41st annual Walker Memorial Trot this Saturday as the feature race on its 10-race card.
The race is in honour of Allan and Viola Walker for their hard work and excellence in the field of harness racing, especially with trotters.
Allan, who was inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 1996, captured several driving titles at both Greenwood Raceway and Garden City. He won the driver's titles at both tracks in 1963, when he achieved an impressive UDRS of 0.490. He was also known for his work as a trainer with many great trotters including MacDuffs Lassie, Clement Hanover, Cadenza and Invasion.
Saturday is also Survivor finale night sponsored by Country 93 Radio. Over 50 fans correctly picked four horses to finish in the money during qualifying nights in July and now compete for the title of Sole Survivor. The winner will receive a 58" HD television courtesy of Country 93 Radio and HDTV in Hanover and Walkerton.
The contest starts in Race 2 and all participants will receive a ballot to select a horse to finish in the top 3 finishing positions. If they are correct, they will receive a ballot for Race 3, and the contest will continue until there are just three finalists left.
