This holiday Monday (Aug. 6) could be one of the best days for race fans ever at Dresden Raceway.
Fans will be treated to free hot buttered corn on the cob, as well as a plethora of drawings, prizes and giveaways, especially for the kids.
“This Monday will be so exciting as we are expecting to have an amazing crowd and some top-notch racing,” said track publicist and announcer Gary Patterson. “Our free corn day is always one of the biggest days of the year, and with all the extra kids draws and the draws for the bicycles, it should be a monster day.”
The usual drawings will be held for $25 gift cards from Tim Hortons, Subway, Shoppers Drug Mart, Home Depot, McDonald’s, Burn’s Family Restaurant, The Track Kitchen at Dresden Raceway and Mario’s Pizza Plus, as well as a drawing for a barbecue from Thamesville Home Hardware. Holiday Monday will feature extra draws for kids' prizes, including six bicycles.
There will also be free face painting at the track as well as freezies for all the kids.
Dresden Raceway will also have miniature horses racing on Civic Holiday Monday as well.
The horsemen will not be left out at Dresden Raceway, as extra purse money has been added for Monday's card, bumping the top purse to $6,200 which should bring out some of the top horses in southwestern Ontario and Michigan.
Dresden has had a phenomenal year of racing. Attendance has been up by almost 1,500 people and the year-to-date handle is up over $31,000 compared to the same days as last year.
Monday’s post time is 1:30 p.m.
