This Saturday in Quebec, the Allard Family will celebrate and recognize a half-century of equine involvement.
It was 50 years ago in 1966 that Michel Allard became involved with pony racing. He eventually became involved with harness racing and passed that passion and love onto his sons, Rene and Simon. Rene recently became the youngest trainer to reach the 3,000 win barrier and Simon is on pace to hit 3,000 wins as a driver within the next year.
To celebrate this milestone of involvement, the Allards are pulling out all the stops for the card of harness racing set at Saint-Esprit this Saturday as part of the Circuit régional des courses de chevaux du Québec. The event will recognize Michel's involvement and also highlight the work of all breeders, trainers and drivers from Quebec who do not count the time and effort they expend to advance the Standardbred industry in the province.
After the races there will be a BBQ dinner, dancing and karaoke.
