Bruce Aldrich Sr., surrounded by family, passed suddenly on June 30, 2021 due to medical complications, at Garnet Health Center in Middletown, New York. He was 71.
The son of Basil and Gloria Aldrich, Bruce was born on November 13, 1950, in Brattleboro, Vermont.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, who passed in 2003 and second wife, Maureen, who passed in 2009.
Bruce is survived by his fiancée, Linda Boyd; son, Bruce Aldrich Jr. (Laura Perino); daughter, Michelle Hallett (John); grandchildren, Jessica and Jonathan Hallett, Brianna Aldrich and Jordan Hoffman; siblings, Basil, Bernie, and Brenda Aldrich; and several nieces and nephews.
His greatest joy in life was his family. He was a successful trainer and former driver with a current stable full of racehorses at Monticello Raceway. His proudest moments in horse racing were working with Jazz Cosmos for Mickey McNichol and Sundance Skipper for Carl Allen. His favourite horses were Samsawinner and Witch And Famous.
Many remember Bruce for his sense of humour and positive attitude. He was a true hero throughout his life and faced every battle with a smile. The world will not shine as bright without his smile and it will be quieter without his laughter. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A remembrance will be held Thursday (July 8) at Ramsay’s Funeral Homes in Monticello, New York, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the friends and family of Bruce Aldrich Sr.
