A field of top pacers will assemble for the top event on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 1) at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Moonwriter is the top entrant in the $3,100 feature, which is carded as race 11 on the 12-dash program. The veteran son of Sportswriter has been installed the favourite from the outside post five, with David Dowling at the lines for trainer Colin Johnson and owner Debbie Element. He has seen the winner’s circle four times already this season since relocating to Eastern Canada, including a 1:55.2 victory.
Rail control belongs to Pictonian Storm, with Corey MacPherson aboard the Wade Sorrie trainee. MacPherson has driven the son of Western Paradise 13 times in his career, and together they have only missed the board once. Hunger Pangs, a 13-time winner looking to go over $50,000 in career earnings, starts from post two for driver Gilles Barrieau. Legendary Ron, a son of A Rocknroll Dance with nine top-three finishes so far this season, has post three for driver Jason Hughes; and Flash In The Pang, fresh off a 1:55 lifetime best performance, will start from post four with Brodie MacPhee in the race bike.
The Backstretch Beat in Sunday’s card recognizes Moonwriter’s strength on the lead and puts him as the most probable winner of the day.

Marc Campbell, who continues to lead the drivers' race at the Prince County oval with 29 wins, will be absent from action on Sunday afternoon. Barrieau and MacPherson are tied for second with 22 wins each; Hughes sits in fourth with 21 victories.
The trainers' race sees Gass in the lead at 14 wins, with Campbell in second with 10 trips to the winner’s circle. Wade Sorrie is third with six.
