Falls Creek Favoured At Red Shores

After disposing of her foes in her latest outing, Falls Creek will look for lifetime win No. 25 in the featured pace this Thursday night (July 30) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 12-dash Thursday program is set to kick off at 6 p.m., and the $2,200 featured fillies and mares pace has been carded as Race 11.

Falls Creek, who is the morning line favourite, has drawn Post 4 for leading driver Marc Campbell, trainer Bo Ford, and owner Arnold Myers of Charlottetown. The five-year-old daughter of Badlands Hanover currently sits at 24 wins from 74 lifetime starts. Collective Wisdom, who is the second choice from the outside Post 6 for driver Gilles Barrieau and trainer Ron Matheson, finishing fifth against the boys in her last start.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac has sided with Falls Creek for the top spot. “Falls Creek came first up at the half last time and despite being uncovered the rest of the way, she still won and in the fastest time on the page this year, to boot,” MacIsaac said. “Off that performance, we'll look for her to double up.”

Also in the field are Paythelinebluechip (to be driven by Steven Shepherd), Julep Hanover (Wade Myers), Sophist (David Dowling) and Killean Finale (Ken Murphy).

The top trot carries a $2,500 purse in Race 10. Majian Tango drew Post 6 as the top choice for trainer-driver Jim Ripley of Amherst, NS, with top entries Glider Man (Kenny Arsenault) and Freddie (Campbell) having drawn outside of him. Pop I will make his east coast debut from Post 5 for trainer-driver Gordie Hennessey after shipping in from New York.
