Mighty And Strong, owned by Patrick Morris of Charlottetown, has drawn the rail in a super-looking top class Saturday night at Red Shores Charlottetown Driving Park. First-race post time for the 12-dash card which will be carried to a world audience is 7:00 p.m. The broadcast is available at redshores.ca.
The seven-year-old son of Astreos has drawn the rail for driver Ron Matheson. His son, Jackie, trains the $151,835 lifetime winner that has had his share of good fortune in the draw lately, having drawn Post 1 and 2 for his last two starts. Matheson has good results this season, with six top-three finishes out of his 10 starts. The task won’t be easy against the power-packed field of five Saturday night.
The morning line favorite is Roscoes Child for driver Brodie MacPhee and the Selkirk Stable of Belfast. The Ross MacKenzie trainee, that has charted miles in the 1:56 range, will start from Post 4 and will attempt his fifth win of the year. Sombrero Blue Chip could spoil the party, too. The Governor’s Plate consolation starter went miles in 1:55.4 over Summerside Raceway for owner Jennifer Doyle of Vernon River and conditioner Darren Trainer. Trainer has listed the services of Brian MacPhee. BJ Cruiser and newcomer Allamerican Navavjo, a purchase for Bill Andrew of Calgary, have the ability to be a major piece of the ticket.
