A leather halter worn by two-time Horse of the Year Moni Maker, arguably the greatest trotting mare of all time is now available on the Halters For Hope website

.

Moni Maker, a daughter of Speedy Crown-Nans Catch, retired following the 2000 season with career earnings of $5,589,256. She retired as not only the richest Standardbred of all time but the richest female racehorse of any breed.

Included among Moni Maker’s career victories was the Classic Oaks final and Nat Ray final in 1997, the Nat Ray final and Breeders Crown final in the U.S. and the Elitlopp in Sweden in 1998, the Trotting Classic final and the American National on this side of the Atlantic and the Prix de Amerique, the Prix de France and the Premio Tor Di Valle in France in 1999. In 2000 she won the Trot Mondial and Nat Ray final on her way to her third straight Trotter of the Year title and fourth straight divisional crown.

Halters For Hope collects worn halters, with engraved nameplates, from the sport’s top racehorses, sires and broodmares, and offers them for sale to the public to benefit horse rescue organizations that cater to saving Standardbreds.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from these halters go to the rescue and adoption groups!

Halters are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. E-mail your request to [email protected], and you will be contacted when the chosen halter is available and told to send the necessary donation. Upon receipt of the donation, Halters for Hope administrator Andy Cohen will ship the halters to purchasers. Donations (checks or money-orders) will be made payable directly to the charitable rescue organization stipulated for the specific horse.
