Track Damage Delays Races

Horsepeople are advised that officials with Ocean Downs have been forced to push the track’s Wednesday (July 24) qualifying session back due to a significant weather event.

The qualifying session that had been scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday will now take place at 6 p.m., just prior to the pari-mutuel card, which is scheduled to get underway at
7:05 p.m.

According to the track, a ‘micro-burst’ of a thunderstorm cell wiped out 500 feet of perimeter fencing at the raceway.

The Ocean Downs track crew is currently working to replace and repair the damaged fencing.

Track officials would also like to note that there will be no schooling or training of horses on Wednesday due to the circumstances.

Please contact the Ocean Downs race office (410-641-0600, Ext. 3212 or 3211) for more information.
