Hanover Cancels Part Of Saugeen

Hanover Raceway has announced that it has been forced to cancel part of its Saugeen Claiming Series

Hanover has stated via release that the colt portion of the Saugeen Claiming Series. A total of 19 fillies and 12 colts were entered to contest this year's edition of the Saugeen.

"Unfortunately, five of the 12 colts were trained by the same person, so it was felt in the best interests of racing, and our customers, to only go with the filly division," Hanover Raceway general manager Gord Dougan said.

The Saugeen Claiming Series is a $10,000 event for Ontario-sired pacers which are non-winners of $75,000 in lifetime purses. The filly division will include two qualifying legs on August 5 and 12, with a $25,700 final on Saturday, August 22.

Horses must race in the first leg in order to be eligible for the final.
