Standardbred Canada's Information, Communications & Innovation Department, which oversees the SC website and TROT Magazine, is seeking an enthusiastic student for a summer placement with Canada’s leading horse racing website and publication.
This position, which runs from early July to late August, requires a hard-working self-starter, with an interest in journalism and writing.
He/she should have a strong attention to detail. Knowledge of horses or horse racing is preferred, but not required. This position will require a flexible schedule as some work will take place on weekends, and during evening hours.
Duties may include:

Assisting and writing website editorial content.

Assisting and writing magazine editorial content.

Helping in producing, editing and filming video and audio content.

Working collaboratively during the magazine editing and production process.

Developing story ideas for TROT Magazine and the SC website.

Working with spreadsheets and doing data entry.

Assisting with developing potential advertising leads.

Contacting writers, photographers and subjects as required.

Helping to cover events and/or racing stories.

Basic administrative duties.
Applicants should be returning to a post-secondary program in the fall of 2020, with the majority of work will be done from the student's home office.
