Ontario’s next generation of provincial pacing talent will soon hit the track at Grand River Raceway with the Battle of Waterloo, presented by Winbak Farm, and its debutante complement, the Battle of the Belles, fast approaching.
Following the May 15 sustaining payments, 96 remain eligible to the $240,000 (est.) Battle of Waterloo and 118 fillies are eligible for the $160,000 (Est.) Battle of the Belles. Both races are restricted to Ontario-sired pacing two-year-olds.
Entries for the Battle of Waterloo and Battle of the Belles are due Wednesday, July 20 at 10:10 a.m. (EDT). If more than 10 drop in the box for either event, eliminations will go to gate next Monday night, July 25, on a card with first-race post time at 6:30 p.m.
The winners of each elimination will earn a protected draw for posts one through five in their respective finals, which will go to gate on Monday, Aug. 1 for the 32nd Industry Day card starting at 12:30 p.m.
This year marks the 25th edition of the Battle of Waterloo, which moved from Elmira Raceway to the Elora, Ont. oval in 2004, and the 14th renewal of the Battle of the Belles.
