Brown Triples In BSS Action

Seven divisions of the Buckeye Stallion Series for two-year-old pacer were contested at MGM Northfield Park on Monday (July 12) with each carrying a purse of $ 17,500. Trainer Brian Brown was a perfect three-for-three as he sent out three rookies to the gate, and all came home winners.

In the first division, Dragon Fly Creek grabbed the lead at the halfway point and cruised to the win for Ronnie Wrenn Jr. and Brown in 1:56.4. The gelding is owned by Debbie Bird.

Brown’s second win came from Sea Luck in 1:56.1 with Ronnie Wrenn Jr. Sea Luck is owned by Country Club Acres, Milton Leeman, Joe Sbrocco and Acadia Farms.

The fastest win of the BSS went to another Brown pupil as Dirge was driven by Cameron McCown in 1:55.4. The colt is owned by Kirk Nichols and Tonya Nichols.

The half-brother to Meadowlands Pace finalist Charlie May, Shane Falco was a winner in 1:56.1 with Aaron Merriman for Steve Carter. The colt is owned by Don Tiger, who also owns Charlie May.

Josh Sutton combined with Timothy Lane to lead Moved Bythe Spirit to the winner's circle in 1:58.2. The gelding is the property of Lane and Storm Haven.

The father-son combination of Jeff and Tyler Smith won the sixth division with Parklane Hill in 1:57.4 and paid the longest price of $12.40 to win. The gelding is owned by Shirley Le Vin.

The final division was won by the gelding Western Ready with Aaron Merriman for Scott Ferguson. Brendan Toops owns Western Ready.

The 16-race program saw drivers Tony Hall, Aaron Merriman and Ronnie Wrenn Jr. each win three races.

Two-Year-Old Filly Pacers Head to MGM Northfield Park

The Buckeye Stallion Series invades MGM Northfield Park Wednesday (July 14) for the first leg for two-year-old filly pacers. Five divisions will battle for a total purse of $87,500 with each division going for $17,500.

A total of 42 filly pacers from 32 trainers will see action on the 16-race program.

Four of the fillies have marks of 1:56.4 or faster in their young careers. The fastest mark is held by McAngel from the Sandy Beatty barn. She was a winner with Beatty driving in 1:56 at Scioto Downs.

Greta T for Ryan Miller with Tyler Smith scheduled to drive and Martaritaondarocks for Danielle Snyder with Mike Wilder scheduled have marks of 1:56.3. Love Me Hill for Virgil Morgan Jr and Dan Noble has a mark of 1:56.4.

The top sires are Fear The Dragon with eight fillies entered. Racing Hill has sired seven, while Downbytheseaside has six offspring racing.

The second leg of Buckeye Stallion Series for two-year-old filly pacers will be July 21 at the Crawford County Fair in Bucyrus, Ohio. First race post time is 5:30 p.m.
