Austin Series Final Set For Dresden

The $16,200 final of the Mark Austin Pacing Series headlines a solid card of harness racing this Sunday at Dresden Raceway.

The series honours horseman Mark Austin, who started at Dresden and claimed fame by breaking A Worthy Lad as well as building a stable with horses that competed on Canada's top circuit and other top tracks in North America.

Dreaming Out Loud has been undefeated this year at Dresden, with a win in a Prospect Series race and two legs of the Austin Series, and will surely be the favourite on Sunday. The three-year-old Thinking Out Loud colt will leave from post six, and will have some stiff competition this week as Acefortyfour Dome has returned to Dresden for the final and Macharita has drawn the rail.

Acefortyfour Dome will score from post seven and has won four of five this year including one division of the Austin Series. Six-year-old Macharita has drawn the rail, and has a first and third in the Series. Completing the field are Zeke The Freak, Mr Cheeseman, Coin Flip, AJKnight and Mached Up.

Sunday also features the Ken Houston Memorial Pace in honour of former NHL player and horse owner Ken Houston, who died in 2018.

HPI will be offering a 3% cashback on wagers over $40 at Dresden Raceway this Sunday.

Race fans in close proximity to the track can tune into 87.9FM to listen to a live broadcast of the races as Dresden has set up a low frequency channel similar to drive-in movie theatres. First race post time is set for 1:00 p.m.
