Trotters To Clash Tuesday In Quebec

Published: June 6, 2016 12:00 pm EDT

Trotters will own the Hippodrome 3R limelight on Tuesday evening (June 7), as the third leg of the Quebec-Bred Series for four and five-year-olds will be contested.

Of the three divisions, just one was able to make it on the wagering program. That is the third race for trotting mares.

SOS Striking Monte and driver Mario Charron are the morning line favourite, and rightly so. In her first two starts in the series, the five-year-old daughter of Striking Sahbra has been first and second. Two starts back she won with ease in a lifetime-best clocking of 1:59.4. Then, last week, she was beaten in the stretch by SOS Revange.

SOS Striking Monte will start from Post 6 on Tuesday and will face competition from National Trace (Post 4) and Bambie Benjo (Post 2).

The first division for mares is a non-wagering race at 6:30 p.m. that features last week’s winner, SOS Revange. She will start from Post 4 for driver Gaetan Lamy and will take on former series champions Viva Bayama (Post 2) and Meganou (Post 3) in what should be a very good matchup.

The horses will take centre stage in a non-wagering race that will be contested between the fifth and sixth races on Tuesday. Featured is the return of Maximuscle (Post 3) for driver Mario Charron and trainer Maxime Velaye (click here to view the fields for the non-wagering races).

During the opening round of the series, Maximuscle broke stride after the start and came back to win the race, but still had to qualify against last week, missing the second round that was won by Seeyou Men.

Seeyou Men has taken this week off, so Maximuscle should have it things his own way, provided his minds his manners and stays on stride for the entire mile race.

Other contenders in the field include Promesses Imperial (Post 4), Me The Boss (Post 1) and Victorycari (Post 2).
