Mac Wilson, 71, of Fairfield, Ill., passed away on Monday, June 2 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
Wilson was born Nov. 2, 1942, to Dwight and Margaret (Fields) Wilson in Jefferson, Iowa.
He was a Standardbred trainer, driver, owner and breeder. He spent most of his life racing at county fairs and pari-mutuel tracks in Illinois, but also raced in Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri and Iowa. He also did some construction work.
Wilson is survived by his longtime companion, Kelly Watkins; daughter, Lori Thomson; sisters, Joan Kappenman and Carol Perkins; plus several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his parents; and brother, Jack.
The body is to be cremated. There will be no burial.
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday (June 9) at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home, 106 NE 4th St., Fairfield, IL 62837.
