A solid group of freshman pacers and trotters will head to the gate for the first time on Saturday morning at Mohawk Racetrack for the first weekend of two-year-old qualifying 'baby races'.
The first of 10 qualifiers is slated for 10:00 a.m. Many of harness racing's top sires are represented on Saturday morning, including a number of first crop stallions. The first two-year-olds of Big Jim and Manofmanymissions will set foot over the Mohawk oval, as well as the first Ontario-eligible crop of Bettors Delights.
As usual, Hall Of Fame horseman Carl Jamieson has an armada of two-year-olds ready and leads all trainers with nine entries. Most prolific after Jamieson: Eddie Green (7), Paul Reid (6), Chris Breaver (5) and Isaac Waxman (4).

This is the first of nine baby race sessions slated for Mohawk, with two-year-old qualifiers set for the following dates:
