New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program has launched its third annual Summer Standardbred Giving Campaign with the goal of raising $30,000 to support and ultimately grow its rehabilitation, retraining and rehoming efforts.

“Last year, we added Standardbred aftercare to our New York farm, which already managed Thoroughbreds, and opened a new Ohio facility to focus solely on transitioning retired broodmares to third careers,” said Dot Morgan, New Vocations’ founder and executive director. “This year, we hope to expand these opportunities to accommodate even more horses and facilitate easier access for both racing connections and adopters."

The United States' oldest and largest racehorse adoption charity — which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022 — first conducted the campaign in 2020 to replace in-person fundraising events shuttered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The inaugural campaign was so successful that it’s become a fixture on New Vocations’ fundraising calendar.

“This giving opportunity is a tremendous value for donors and New Vocations alike,” said Morgan. “Every dollar donated goes directly to the horses’ daily care, veterinary needs and retraining as they prepare for their second — or even third — careers in loving, capable homes.”

New Vocations is celebrating 30 years as a pioneer and national leader in racehorse adoptions. The program serves more than 100 Standardbreds annually and has rehomed more than 2,400 since its inception in 1992.
