Longtime Standardbred industry participant Robert 'Bob' Carss passed away peacefully at Dundas Manor in Winchester, Ont., on May 24, 2022, in his 85th year.

Bobby always had a twinkle in his eye, quick wit, wisdom and time for everyone.

Born and raised in Ottawa, where he spent his early years with his siblings, working the family farms in the Bowesville and Manotick areas. Besides his love for farming, Bob was an avid sports enthusiast, playing hockey, competitively until his late 20’s. Bob worked for the Liquor Control Board of Ontario for 35 years until his retirement. Bob spent the next 25 years enjoying his retirement and focusing his attentions on his greatest passion — raising, training, racing and breeding Standardbred racehorses. Bob served as a director with the Ontario Harness Horse Association as well as Standardbred Canada representing eastern Ontario for many years.

Beloved husband of Norma (nee Craig). Cherished father of Jeff (Shelley) and Janet (Marc Savoie). Loving grandfather of Graeme, Liam and Madisyn Carss. Dear brother of Betty (Gary Boxma), Judy (the late George Patterson), Rodney, Vivian (Syd Smith) and the late Lawrence Carss (Sandy). Remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Dundas Manor for the compassionate care Bob received.
