Those planning to sell racehorses at the Meadowlands July 15 Summer Mixed Sale are reminded that entries are now being accepted, and will be until the catalogue closes on Monday, June 18.
Consignors may submit entries using the form on the Tattersalls Sales Co. website (tattersallsredmile.com) or by calling the sale office at 914-773-7777.
Last year’s Summer Mixed was up more than 50 per cent in average from the previous year. The top seller was Open Trot winner In Secret, who was purchased by Burke Racing and partners for $140,000.
“The July sale is a great time to market racehorses and create cash flow prior to the fall yearling sales,” said sale manager David Reid.
“It’s also a good time to evaluate one’s racing program, and to do some near-term planning. ‘Should I restock for fall racing? Do I focus on yearlings?’ If that means selling a few, this is the place.”
As always, the Summer Mixed will feature racehorses of all ages, but it has also become a go-to venue for those who’d like to sell two-year-olds.
“Many two-year-olds will start racing over the next few weeks, and this sale is a great outlet for those willing to test the waters on what could be a very profitable endeavor,” Reid said.
“Everyone would agree there’s very serious money out there for a high-quality two-year-old, as number of them are sold privately at this time of year. Why not bring them to auction, and get full value?”
