Maximuscle, the top Quebec-bred trotting colt from the 2013 harness racing season, is set to make his 2014 debut Tuesday at Hippodrome 3R.

The son of Angus Hall from the Promising Catch mare Iceberg Angus will start from Post 8 in the fifth-race trot for driver Mario Charron. The duo has been made the 5-2 morning line favourite despite having to start from the far outside.

Last year was a banner season for Maximuscle. Maximuscle, who is trained by Eric Valiquette and bred and owned by Ecurie Provoquante of Mirabel, QC, won five of his seven starts in 2013 and won $45,724 in purses. He also took a lifetime mark of 1:58.1 at Mohawk Racetrack early in his career.

Maximuscle prepped for his debut with a qualifying race at Hippodrome 3R where he finished third in 2:03.2, but did show a strong last quarter mile in :29.3.

There will be three return winners in Tuesday’s sixth-race pacing feature at Hippodrome 3R. The race will be contested at distance of one and one-sixteenth miles.

Pan Larceny, who is currently riding a three-race winning streak, will start from the rail for driver Stephane Gendron. Pan Larceny is undefeated in his two seasonal starts. Last week the nine-year-old gelding led from start to finish – as he does most every week – and won in 2:00.4.

The Platinum Guy, who is on a four-race winning streak, will start from Post 4. He will be driven by Denis St Pierre. The Platinum guy has won in this extra-distance class the last three weeks – the fastest of his winning times was 2:04.4. The third return winner in the field is Dancers Cam, who will start from Post 2 for driver Stephane Brosseau. The 10-year-old gelding won his 2014 debut last week over a rainy track labelled as ‘good.’

Live racing takes place at the Hippodrome 3R every Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
