Ontario Racing Commission chair Rod Seiling has announced that the Government of Ontario has re-appointed

Bernard F. Brennan, D.V.M., of Kemptville, Ont. as a Commissioner for a one-year term, effective May 29, 2009.

Dr. Brennan was first named to the board of the Ontario Racing Commission in 2002.

“His extensive knowledge of racing and equine medicine – as well as his exemplary record of public service – is a considerable asset to the ORC,” said Seiling. “As we continue our efforts to protect the health and welfare of the horse and the safety of the participants, this kind of hands-on experience is invaluable.”

Dr. Brennan served for eight years as the track veterinarian at Rideau Carleton Raceway. As co-owner of Alta Vista Animal Hospital in Ottawa for over 40 years, he employed a staff of over 15 full-time veterinarians. His volunteer service to the community at large has included work with the Ottawa Rotary Club, the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Ottawa Boys Club.
