Standardbred horseman Robert Harold Sampson, 74, of Croswell, Mich., passed away on June 23, 2020, at his home.
He was born May 26, 1946, in Port Huron, son of the late Harold and Lela (Parkin) Sampson. He married Denise A. Johnston on Oct. 17, 1982, in Brown City.
Sampson was a trainer and driver of Standardbreds.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Croswell American Legion Post #255, the Moose Lodge in Florida, and the Michigan Harness Horsemen’s Association.
Robert is survived by his wife, Denise; daughter Stacie (Matt) Bales; grandchildren, Riley, Tyler, Alexis, and Khloe; brother, William (Judy); sisters, JoAnn (William) Brooks, Diane (Rick) Welch, and Karen (Dave) Cook; sister-in-law, Karen (Robert) McPhail; nieces and nephews, Amy (Scott) Spencer, Scott (Christina) Welch, Nathan (Bailey) Welch, Ryan Brooks, Jim (Dana) McPhail, Jeff (Rhonda) McPhail, Christopher, Sueann (Jeff) Sibbald, Nancy Ahlmberg, and Jim Cook.
Memorial services were held this past Saturday (June 27) at the Pomeroy Funeral Home, Croswell.
