T.C. Lane has been appointed Interim Registrar for the United States Trotting Association, replacing Janet Terhune, who recently resigned to take the position of director of the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame.
The Registrar oversees applications for registration of new foals, as well as transfers, name changes, export documents and a variety of direct services to members.
Lane moves to the Registrar’s spot on an interim basis as candidates for the position are interviewed and considered. He was most recently director of officials/tracks and the USTA’s county fair liaison. He joined the USTA as its director of officials in 2002 following a stint with the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association, for which he served as the association’s representative to Ohio’s county fairs.
Lane graduated from Ohio State University, where he majored in agricultural economics and minored in equine science. His day-to-day responsibilities include supervision of the racetrack support team, which provides service to all pari-mutuel and fair tracks in the country, the coordination of the 12-person ID technician team, and the Outreach division.
“We are pleased that T.C. will be able to fill this important role as we continue the process of evaluating the many who have applied for the Registrar position,” said USTA executive VP Mike Tanner. “We’re fortunate to have a deep and talented staff with a diverse collection of skills, and T.C. is a great example of that.”
