ORC Licensees Must Ensure Non-Residents Entitled To Work In Ontario

Published: June 29, 2010 09:05 pm EDT

The Ontario Racing Commission advises licensees that anyone hiring a non-resident of Canada to work for them needs to ensure that person is entitled to work

legally in Ontario.

The employer should advise the non-resident to contact Immigration Canada to determine if a work permit or visa is required, or do so on the non-resident’s behalf. Information can be obtained from the Immigration Canada website.

After confirming their work status with Immigration Canada, all non-residents are required to apply for and obtain an ORC license in order to race in Ontario.
