There is a lot going on at Hanover Raceway over the course of the next few days

.

Hanover will hold an open house on Saturday, June 27 from noon until 4:00 p.m. in the backstretch. Fans will learn about the anatomy of horses, training and care, rules of racing, and get a chance to drive a standardbred in a double-seated jog cart with a professional driver.

Then, on Wednesday July 1, Hanover starts its Wednesday night races, which will feature a 7:15 p.m. first race post time.

Opening night is McCain Fan appreciation night, with $1 hot dogs and french fries in the concessions. It's also the first night of Hanover’s Trot Canada National Handicapping qualifying events. Fans are asked to pick one horse in each of five races every Wednesday in July. The top five finishers will get prizes. The overall winner will also get to move on to the championship at Rideau Carleton Raceway in November.

Top prize at the championship is $25,000. Click here for more information.

This Saturday is Pepsi Day, with over $1,000 in prizes to give away, free taste-testing of new Pepsi products, and a special race featuring miniature horse’s going a quarter mile.
