D Gs Camme Headlines Cecil Ladner Memorial Invitational;
Hughes Favourite In Regional Drivers Championship
Last year’s Governors Plate Champion D Gs Camme is back and Saturday night he’ll look for redemption against seven rivals in the 2016 addition of the Cecil Ladner Memorial Invitational at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
D Gs Camme has been dubbed the morning line favourite from Post 7. The six-year-old son of Blissfull Hall will look to turn his runner-up finish in last year’s Ladner final into redemption for owners Tom Clark, Ron Matheson, Quentin and Hal Bevan, Charlottetown, PE.
D Gs Camme showed last week that he is back to his old form. He left the preferred pacers in the dust while winning by three lengths in 1:55. Gilles Barrieau will handle the driving duties for trainer Jackie Matheson as they search for their first Ladner victory.
The task at hand will not be easy when he faces off against Mach Wheel, stablemate Clic K, Forever Paradise, Narragansett, OK Galahad, Warrawee Phoenix and newcomer Doing Some Damage.
The Atlantic Regional Driving Championship will also be in play on the card. Eight drivers from across the region will square off in eight races. The top two finishers will head to the National Driving Championship to see who will represent Canada at the 2017 World Driving Championship.
Islander Jason Hughes looks to be the favourite heading into the event with the best morning line odds of his seven rivals. Prince Edward Island will also send out Walter Cheverie, Corey MacPherson and Marc Campbell. John Gerard Kennedy, Paul Langille and Darren Crowe will represent Nova Scotia, while New Brunswick’s lone representative is Ed Harvey.
The Waveskills Sailing School Pace will feature six of the top Open Mares in the region. Ramblinglily, fresh off a 1:54.4 track record-tying performance at Summerside, has been selected as the morning line favourite.
First-race post time Saturday is 6 p.m.

Motorino Favoured In Summerside’s Top Class
The action shifts to Red Shores Summerside on Sunday when Motorino looks to pick up back-to-back victories in the afternoon feature.
The Race 7, Post 3 starter was a winner for trainer/driver/co-owner Terry Gallant last week when clearing to the lead past the half and driving away to win by two and a quarter lengths in 1:57.1. Eric Johnston shares ownership.
From Post 2, Casimir Luciano will look to return to his winning ways after seeing his four-race win streak go up in smoke last week. Jason Hughes gets the catch driving call for owner/trainer Ralph Sweet. The small but select field of five is rounded out with Machinthesand, Rash B Havior and American Captain.
Coasttocoastshark is the morning line favorite in race 6 to kick off the pick 5 promotion with a jackpot of $500 for on track players. Corey MacPherson will do the driving for owner Shirley Wallace and trainer Jeffery Wallace, Alberton, PE.
The $100,000 Dash for Cash is also in play at Red Shores Summerside in Race 12. P C Shockwave is listed as the morning line favourite after shocking his rivals last trip out winning by 13 in 1:57.3 for owner Scott MacPhail and trainer/driver Wade Sorrie.
