In the light of encouraging gains from its wagering operations, officials with Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino have announced purses will increase by approximately 10 per cent per day, effective Saturday, June 26.
“I could not be more pleased and excited to announce the upcoming purse increase,” Rick Moore, Harrah’s Hoosier Park’s vice president and general manager of racing, noted. “This increase speaks to the health and vitality of Harrah’s Hoosier Park’s racing and gaming operations.”
“In particular, I want to thank the Indiana Standardbred Association and the Indiana Horse Racing Commission’s Standardbred Breed Development program for their partnership in putting a racing product on the track on a nightly basis that all participants in the Indiana harness racing industry can be proud of.”
With a renewed focus on specialty wagers, full fields and competitive racing, through the first 50 days of the meet at Harrah’s Hoosier Park, all-sources wagering has shown a 40.9 per cent increase over 2019 figures.
Along with new additions to the wagering menu for the 2021 live racing season, Harrah’s Hoosier Park will continue to offer free live racing programs for download on their website every live racing night, along with expert selections and handicapping tools.
The racing action continues to heat up on the track as the Indiana Sires Stakes series kicked off in impressive fashion in mid-May. Harrah’s Hoosier Park will host an extended stakes schedule, worth a combined $4 million, throughout 2021, headlined by the $300,000 Dan Patch Stakes on Friday, Aug. 13.
