CDP Clashes Set For Friday

In what has been a common theme thus far this season, Marc Campbell's stable will send out a powerful duo in the featured event Friday evening (June 19) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 10-dash Friday card will start off at 6 p.m. and the $2,850 Preferred 2 Pace has been slated to line up for Race 9.

The Campbell pair of Post 4 starter Jetster (to driven by Adam Merner) and Post 6 newcomer Time To Dance (Marc Campbell) has the respect of the top two picks on the morning line. Jetster was victorious in the class last Friday with Campbell at the lines, while Time To Dance delivered a five-length romp in his first east coast assignment down a notch on the class ladder for owners Brent Campbell of Charlottetown and Matthew McDonald of Edwards, Ont.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac has elected to go a different direction, as he has sided with the red hot stable of Brittany Watts and its Post 2 starter Creepin (David Dowling).

“Creepin lost his cover at the half last week, which left him first up the rest of the way, and that's back-to-back starts he's had to rough it,” MacIsaac said. “He still got home in :28 and change, though, and with a smoother journey tonight he's a potential sleeper.”

Also in the Preferred 2 field are Mantario (Kenny Arsenault), Beyondthesilence N (Chris Davies), Winter Blast (Jason Hughes) and Hes Marvalous (Myles Heffernan Sr.).

The Open Trot will renew again on Thursday with a field of six top-flight trotters set to battle for the lion’s share of the $2,500 purse.

Freddie is set to start on the far outside after having delivered a mild upset in the class last week for trainer-driver Campbell and owners Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston. The son of Majestic Son will have to overcome Glider Man, who will be looking for redemption from Post 5 after having fallen short as the heavy post time favourite last week for the duo of driver Kenny Arsenault and trainer Jennifer Doyle. Hop Up will bring a two-race win streak into the contest and is set to start from Post 2 for driver Corey MacPherson and trainer Keith Campbell. The field is rounded out by Supreme Monarch (Mike McGuigan), Windemeredontuworry (Norris Rogers) and Star Photo (Hughes).
