The PEI Sports Hall of Fame and Museum has announced that Harness Racing PEI Inc. will become the title sponsor for the annual Golf Classic, the Hall’s primary

fundraiser.

The agreement will be for a three year period, during which time the Hall will host the annual induction ceremonies in alternate years at the harness racing locations in Charlottetown and Summerside.

“We are delighted to welcome Harness Racing PEI on board as a supporter of the PEI Sports Hall of Fame,” said Hall chair Lee Brammer. “Harness racing is well represented in the Sports Hall, and it has an outstanding history in this province. It is a natural fit. We are looking forward to working together, and I am sure the Hall and PEI sport in general will benefit greatly from the added exposure the partnership with Harness Racing PEI will provide.”

Director of Marketing and Media Relations for Harness Racing PEI, Lee Drake was equally as enthusiastic about the partnership.

“A strong and prosperous PEI Sports Hall of Fame is very important to the sporting fabric of the Island,” said Drake, “and we are delighted to be in a position to help. The Hall keeps alive the stories of all of the great sportsmen and women that have come from PEI, including those from our own sport, and we are pleased to do our little bit to ensure that their stories and accomplishments are never forgotten.”

The 2009 Harness Racing PEI Inc. Golf Classic will take place on Thursday, June 25 at Brudenell River. Anyone that wishes to enter a team of four is asked to contact Ken Doucette at 629-9802. Space is limited.
