Everett Adams Passes

Trot Insider had learned that longtime horseman Everett Adams of Cobourg, Ontario passed away on Friday

, June 11. He was 86.

Everett began his career in the early 50’s as a trainer and driver and was a regular during those years on the Ottawa Valley circuit. He competed at Connaught Park, Richelieu Park in Montreal and even participated in Rideau Carleton Raceway’s inaugural season in 1962. He maintained a small stable over the years racing primarily at Kawartha Downs and Quinte Raceway.

Three of his sons, Eric, Wayne and Earl all followed in their fathers footsteps and are active trainers today.

He is also survived by daughter Judy Green (Steve), son Elwood (Gail), five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Everett was predeceased by his longtime wife, Joy, in March 2009.

Visitation will take place at MacCoubrey Funeral Home in Cobourg on Wednesday, June 16 from 12 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. and interment will be at Centenary Cemetery in Roseneath.
