Trot Insider has learned that former horseman Donald 'Don' Thompson of Stirling, Ont. passed away Thursday, June 10 at the Belleville General Hospital. He was 75
.
Thompson was quite a familiar face at the Quinte Exhibition and Raceway, as the trainer-driver raced horses at the track for 40 years.
Don is survived by his wife, Agness, sons Ed and Gene, and daughter Donalda Thompson-Melbourne. Don was also predeceased by his oldest son, Jim.
Visitation will be taking place at the Stirling Funeral Home and Chapel (87 James St., Stirling) on Sunday, June 13 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Visitation will also be taking place Monday, June 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. before the funeral, which will be taking place at 2:00 p.m.
