Speedy CDP Trio To Clash Thursday

Published: June 1, 2016 01:10 pm EDT

Three top-class competitors made visits to the winner’s circle last Thursday at Red Shores Charlottetown Driving Park after fast miles. This Thursday’s card at the CDP will see all three of those winners butt heads in the featured event on the program.

First-race post time for the 11-dash program is 6:30 p.m. The featured event will host a field of eight starters and it will line up for Race 11.

Eagle Jolt was an impressive winner last week in 1:58.2 for trainer-driver Marc Campbell and owners Wilbur and Marie MacDonald of Orwell Cove. Eagle Jolt will start from Post 4 in the $2,200 race.

The Big Bite will start from Post 3. Kenny Arsenault will be in the bike for trainer Thane Arsenault and owners Jack Arsenault, Donna McIver and Edward Blaisdell of PEI, and Deborah Wilson of Nova Scotia. The Big Bite was a winner in 1:57.4 last Saturday evening at the CDP and will make the jump up in class on Thursday.

Daylyn Horizon will start from Post 2 for co-owner and trainer Brent Campbell of Charlottetown and co-owner Neal Moase of Warren Grove. Daylyn Horizon was a winner in 1:56.3 in his latest outing, but he has lost the services of driver Marc Campbell for Thursday’s race. Daylyn Horizon will be driven by Gary Chappell on Thursday.

The other entries in the field include McJestic (to be driven by Walter Cheverie), I D K (Vincent Poulton), Artners In Crime (Gilles Barrieau), Cheyenne Ford (Mike McGuigan) and OK Galahad (Jason Hughes).

A field of six Open Trotters is set to meet in Race 6 and battle for the lion’s share of a $1,950 purse. Freddie has been favoured from Post 2 for trainer-driver Campbell and owners Three Wisemen Stable of Cornwall. The four-year-old Majestic Son gelding was an impressive winner in 2:00.2 in last week’s Open event and will have to contend with last week’s runner-up, Wedgewood, from Post 3. Wedgewood will have Chappell in the bike. Frill Seeker and Kenny Arsenault will be looking for redemption from Post 1 after having made a break last week while carrying a two-race win streak in the Open Trot. The field will also feature Thunderaway (Hughes), Majian Chester (Jim Ripley) and Holy Molie Maggie (Corey MacPherson).

The program’s ‘back-up trot,’ which is sponsored by Advantage Communications, has been carded as Race 4. Tyne Valley has been installed as the morning-line favourite in the six-horse field. Walter Cheverie is scheduled to drive for co-owner and trainer William Roloson and co-owners Scott Roloson and Kristi Pickering. Top entries in the $1,550 class include Paymenowpaymelater (Barrieau) and Phantom Beau (Mark Bradley).
