Longtime harness racing industry participant Giuseppe Lanni of Kirkland, Que. passed away on May 26, 2026, at the age of 78.
Originally from Italy, he was deeply proud of his roots and traditions, which he passed on with love to his family. A great gatherer, he made his home a place of joy, sharing, and unity. He will be remembered as a passionate horse enthusiast and an avid golfer, with whom many shared treasured and happy moments through these activities.
A devoted husband to Mrs. Teresa Stinziani Lanni, he dedicated his life to the love of his family. A man of great heart, deeply attached to his loved ones, he was a true pillar — always present to support, guide, and bring together those he cherished.
He leaves in great sorrow his beloved wife, as well as his children: Antonietta, Donato, Marco, who will forever remember him as a caring, generous, and deeply loving father. His grandchildren Laila, Lucas, Talia, MariaBella, Maeva, whom he cherished dearly, will remember his kindness, his wise advice, and the joyful moments shared in his presence. He will also be greatly missed by his brothers as well as many relatives and friends, all of whom he welcomed with warmth and kindness.
The family will receive condolences at Rideau Funeral Home (4275 Sources Blvd., Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC H9B 2A6) on Tuesday, June 2, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Wednesday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
A ceremony will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. He will then be laid to rest in the crypt at Rideau Memorial Gardens (4239 Sources Blvd., Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC H9B 2A6).
