Trot Insider has learned Doug Colwell passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 29
. He was 86.
Colwell was born in Saint John on January 11, 1926, and worked as the General Manager of the Exhibition Park Raceway, and was the former owner of the Park Plaza Motel. He is survived by his wife Verna, his daughter Barbara (Wally) Hennessey of Coconut Creek, Florida, and his granddaughter Kristy.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date.
