SC Launches Racing Services Dept.

Standardbred Canada’s newly named “Racing Services” Department will launch, with the first phase in Ontario, effective today.

Ontario Members can conduct their business via the Racing Services Department who work from head office. (SC's head office remains closed but head office staff have access to their voicemail and email.)

The Racing Services Department is a result of a restructuring of the Field Services Department, identified as one of the key tactics of the 2021 Strategic Plan.

Standardbred Canada’s (SC) realignment of its operating departments continues in addressing member and stakeholder needs based on an internal review with industry input.

Valerie Boom will manage the Racing Services Department, which assumes the former services and responsibilities of the Field Services Department. Liz Marchant will be the lead liaison for SC members at head office. SC will have a Central Lead Racing Services Representative available from 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (ET) during evening race cards and from 11:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (ET) during afternoon race cards. For weekend morning qualifiers a Central Lead will be available an hour and a half before post time of the qualifier until the last qualifier. The Central Lead may be reached at (905) 858-3060 ext. 876.

SC Field Reps will be referenced as Racing Services Representatives, and will no longer be on site at most racetracks and will work remotely and from SC’s head office.

“During the pandemic we have had to have our employees work from home,” said Dan Gall, President and CEO. “Overall, we had a positive response to this. We’ve also seen SC members transition to using eShop and online services for conducting horse related business, and these services will continue to be promoted as they are available 24-7.

“Standardbred Canada is committed to continuing to provide outstanding customer service to our membership,” continued Gall, “and with the centralized Racing Services Department under Manager Val Boom’s capable leadership, we will continue to provide efficient and effective service to our members.”
