Red Shores’ Weekend All Set

Prince Edward Island is all set for a weekend of live racing, as Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park will host a 12-race program on Saturday and Summerside Raceway will offer a 14-dash card.

Forever Paradise Favoured To Win

Forever Paradise and driver Mike McGuigan will look to pick up their third victory of the 2016 campaign in the Saturday feature at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.

The duo will team up with trainer Kevin MacLean and owners Reg Macpherson, David and Aaron Mackenzie to face off against seven other foes in Race 12. Forever Paradise won last week’s preferred pace in 1:55.1. He has drawn Post 7 for his assignment this weekend.

The race will feature the second start off the bench forformer Premier’s Pace winner Clic K (Post 8), The iron-tough All Turain will make his first start of the 2016 season from Post 5. The race will also feature back-to-back winner Waterside Light.

The Open Mares will get it on in Race 7. The morning-line favourite, Best Risque, is set to square off with newcomer Alittleeastermagic and a pair of top stakes fillies from last season, Miss Oromocto and Dustylane Msvickie.

The card will kick off with a first-race post time of 6 p.m.

Stakes Stars Invade Summerside Sunday

It’s a sure sign that summer is just around the corner when the stakes season kicks off at Red Shores’ Summerside. The historic Prince County oval is celebrating 130 years of racing. The Sunday program will get underway at 1 p.m.

The 14-dash card features four divisions of three-year-old colts in the $5, 975 Bob Dewar Memorial and four divisions of the three-year-old fillies in the $5, 650 Ruby Chappell Memorial.

The stakes action will get underway in Race 3 and Glory Jean will be looking to continue her winning ways for owner Blair Hansen, trainer Tom Weatherbie and driver Mark Bradley. She’ll be forced to do battle with mainlanders Howmacfiesty and morning line favourite Shalara.

The first division of the Bob Dewar will head to post for Race 5. Dusty Lane Arby will return back to home soil for owner trainer Ronnie Gass and driver Corey MacPherson. He will face off against K D Overdrive.

The reining Maritime Breeders and Atlantic Breeders Crown winners from last season in their respective divisions will both be in action on the card. Howmacscanasta has drawn Post 2 for the afternoon’s seventh race, while Jackson K Down will look to start his season off on a winning note from Post 7 in Race 13. Gilles Barrieau will be in the driver’s seat for both.
