
Ian Robert MacIntosh of Alliston, Ont. passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on May 22, 2025 after a brief illness. He was 79.
Ian will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Barbara (MacKay); his daughters, Jennifer (Jason), Beth (Christian) and Emily (Shane); his grandchildren, Madelyn, Gabrielle, Charlotte, Gavin and Sam; his brother, Keith; and sister, Erica; as well as his extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Eric and Marjorie.
Ian was educated in business at Mount Allison University and earned an MBA at the University of Toronto. He enjoyed a successful career as an entrepreneur. His true passion, however, was training and racing Standardbred horses, and later show jumpers with his children and grandchildren. Ian and Barb enjoyed many winters in Florida golfing and boating.
The family would like to thank the palliative care nurses and doctors who supported his family and gave Ian wonderful care in his final days.
The family will receive friends at Rod Abrams Funeral Home, located at 1666 Tottenham Rd., in Tottenham, Ont., on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., immediately followed by a service in the chapel at 2 p.m. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Cliffside Hall.
