The 2011 Maritime harness racing stakes season will launch on Sunday afternoon, as Atlantic Sires Stakes three-year-old pacing colts from across the Maritimes will meet for competition at Inverness Raceway
.
Last year’s Atlantic Breeders Crown two-year-old pacing colt champion, Pictonians Souwest, will make his three-year-old stakes debut and will take on challengers in one of two 'A' division events. Each of the 'A' division dashes will go for a purse of $9,120.
There will also be two 'B' division events, each of which will be raced for a purse of $2,500.
Sunday’s race card is the first of the season for the Inverness oval and a large crowd is expected to be on hand for the feature events.
First-race post time for the Sunday card is 1:30 p.m.
