With the return of racing at Woodbine Mohawk Park in a couple weeks’ time, hundreds of horses are set to qualify over the Milton oval beginning on Thursday (May 27).

Mohawk will host three qualifying sessions this week from Thursday through Saturday (May 29). A total of 44 qualifiers will go to gate, with a total 377 horses slated to round the track.

Thursday’s qualifiers gathers pacing sophomores of each sex for 14 events. In the second qualifier, North America Cup prospect Bulldog Hanover will make his first start since his dominant 1:50.2 victory in the Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) last October. He aligns behind the gate next to No Better Joy, a Nicky Comegna trainee who finished fourth in the $720,000 Metro Pace.

The following qualifier features several classy fillies. OSS Super Final runner-up Voelz Delight and third-place finisher Best Keepsake compete against Cyclone Sister, winner of the Grassroots Final, as well as Bet On Becky, who went three-for-three in OSS events before breaking stride in the Eternal Camnation and going to the bench.

Friday’s session sends 15 qualifiers of trotters to the track. A pair of OSS Super Final champs compete early in the session – Fashion Frenzie in Qualifier 4 and Pemberton in Qualifier 7. Later, HP Royal Theo will make his four-year-old debut in Qualifier 10. And in the event following, Grassroots champ Four Wheelin will go to gate neighbored by Autumn Series winner Buckys Angel and Rob Fellows' quirky Archangel colt Logan Park, the latter a winner in the OSS last year.

Another 15 qualifiers go to gate on Saturday with a wide variety of pacing stock. The session features two millionaires – Nirvana Seelster in Qualifier 3 and Nickle Bag in Qualifier 5. Other high-earning veterans in competition include Cousin Mary and Karma Seelster in Qualifier 6, Outlaw Gunpowder in Qualifier 11 and First Class Horse in Qualifier 12.
