E R Quinn Favoured For Thursday Tilt

Although E R Quinn will have to overcome the outside post position if he wants to capture Thursday’s (May 23) featured dash at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park, it appears as though adversity has not been affecting him as of late.

The CDP’s eight-dash Thursday program will get underway at 6:30 p.m. and the $2,400 featured contest has been carded as Race 7.

E R Quinn is scheduled to start from the outside Post 6 for trainer Jeff Holmes and owner Orwell Bay Stable of Orwell. In his last race, the son of Total Truth recovered from an early break before eventually hitting the wire first. Corey MacPherson is listed to drive E R Quinn Thursday.

Jetster, who is fresh off of a win and will be making a jump in class for the race, will start from Post 1 for trainer-driver Marc Campbell. Winter Blast (to be driven by Jason Hughes) will get a second crack at opposition below the preferred ranks.

Red Shores’ race analyst Les MacIsaac sees the way to the winner's circle running through E R Quinn. "E R Quinn made an early break last week then was the victim of interference and still won," MacIsaac said. "How do you go against him after a performance like that? You don't."

Also scheduled to be in the field is Harbourlite Jerry (Steven Shepherd), Tempo Seelster (Ken Murphy) and Confident Fella (Dale Spence).

A group of seven three-year-old trotters are set to meet in Race 2, which will offer a purse of $1,650. Getti Messi, who is the race’s morning line favourite, is heading in to the tilt off of an impressive qualifier for driver Mike McGuigan, trainer Len McGuigan and owner Jamie Whalen of Avondale. Other top entries include Dustylane Thunder (Adam Merner) and Hard Case (Mark Bradley).
