Robert Davenport Passes

Former driver-trainer Robert A. Davenport, 85, died on May 19, 2010 at The Arbors of Delaware

He was born November 20, 1924 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon retiring as a model designer from Ranco, Inc., he started training and driving standardbreds. He conditioned May Bloom (p,3,1:57.2f; $70,584), Mickey Bloom ($33,150) and Duchess Time ($21,010).

Mr. Davenport was a member of The Little Brown Jug Society and served as an honorary member of the Delaware County Fair Board.

He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Hines; two granddaughters, Chris (Bill) Storms and Susan (Eric) Leonard, all of Delaware; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, in 2002; one sister and five brothers.
