Tattersalls announced Friday (May 21) that its annual Summer Mixed Sale, cancelled last year because of the pandemic shutdown, will be held Sunday, July 18, at The Meadowlands.
Entries are now being accepted on the Tattersalls website or by calling (914) 773-7777.
The sale lands on the day after one of the track’s signature events, the Meadowlands Pace, and sale manager David Reid said he expects a great turnout for a fun weekend event.
“We’re certainly glad to continue the sales cycle and offer owners and trainers a place to create some commerce,” Reid said. “Our Winter Mixed (Jan. 18) went off without a hitch, and with the COVID-19 situation improving here in the U.S. and summer race meets underway, I think this sale has the potential to be even better.”
The Summer Mixed Sale, as was the case in January, will be in-person in the Meadowlands race paddock. It will also be shown “live” online with video and real-time bidding.
Reid said the Summer Mixed is in a great spot on the calendar, as it provides the right timing for owners and trainers to evaluate their holdings and take advantage of the opportunity to sell and raise capital for fall yearling purchases.
“There’s no question that it you bring a quality racehorse to this sale, you’re going to be extremely well rewarded,” Reid said. “I know I’ve said a hundred times, ‘demand has never been stronger,’ but today, that’s more true than ever before.”
