Georgian Downs will present the $500,000 (guaranteed) Upper Canada Cup on Saturday May 28. The UCC has attracted a very solid cast of equine athletes
.
The celebrated sophomores will be racing for a big-money pot and the racing card will be loaded with complementary high-class events.
The night will feature the historic Honourable Earl Rowe Memorial Cup, which honours the area’s former Lieutenant Governor and founder of Barrie Raceway. Jackie Warner, manager of Marketing at Georgian Downs, has promised a night that will celebrate harness racing. She emphasized that “the focus” will be on the racetrack. “It will be a very special night.”
Spectators will know it is a special night when they’re shuttled from the parking lot to the facility in an elegant landau carriage driven by a team of Clydesdales. The history theme will continue with period-costumed greeters and a facility festooned with flowers and balloons. The between-race entertainment will feature a host of crowd-pleasing promotions, which will include Money Machine Madness, where $1,000 will be up for grabs, plus Georgian’s special version of Deal no Deal.
Best of all, one lucky fan will go home with the Great Canadian Backyard Barbeque door prize. The giveaway includes a Napoleon Ultra Chef Grill, a premium patio suite, plus a private race-night barbeque party for 40 people on the Georgian Downs Patio.
