Live harness racing will return to Kawartha Downs on Saturday, May 28. Qualifying races will be held this Saturday (May 21). The first of the qualifiers will head to post at 11 a.m. It is important that horsepeople are aware that a Standardbred Canada field representative will be on hand to conduct business.
The box for qualifying entries will close on Thursday, May 19 at 10 a.m. Entries should be made to race secretary Ian Fleming at 519-482-5270.
Standardbred Canada would like to remind all horsepeople that all memberships and eligibility fees need to be paid. Additionally, name changes need to be made before a horse ever qualifies. Coggins tests are required as set out in the rules in your racing jurisdiction.

Membership renewals and eligibility fees are two of many services that can be purchased online. To pay online, register with the SC website and sign into eShop by clicking the eShop button at the top of the homepage.
Training is available at the track every Monday and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Schooling races will start tomorrow, May 18, at 11 a.m. and continue on June 1, 15 and 29 and July 13 and 27.
Racing will be held every Saturday night from May 28 through October 1 (exception September 17 when a NASCAR race will be held at the track). First-race post time is always 7 pm.
New this year at KD is the Kawartha Downs Kids’ Club. All youngsters who join will be given a Kids’ Club t-shirt and will be eligible to win draws every race night. Opening night will feature lots of activities for the entire family with prizes and giveaways after every race. In addition, your first bet is on us (with program coupon).
Fans will also have the chance to win a ride around the racetrack behind a magnificent Standardbred thanks to the Hands On Horses program on opening night.
