A new item has been added to the schedule for Meadowlands Pace weekend, as Tattersalls will conduct its Summer Mixed Sale on Sunday, July 16, the day following the track’s signature race.
The sale, to be held two weeks earlier than in previous years, will feature racehorses of all ages, with a special emphasis on two-year-olds.
“We listened to our consignors and buyers, and they felt that in order to add a solid group of two-year-olds to a mixed sale -- an important market we’ve been trying to help establish -- it needed to come at a time when they’ve had a couple of baby races already under their belts,” said sale manager David Reid.
“Even though we made progress, our customers didn’t take to buying the freshmen earlier in the season off training miles alone. I think seeing one or two racelines should give them the confidence they need in the product they’re bidding on.
“As anyone in sales can tell you, if you have a really promising two-year-old, it’s worth a significant amount of money, regardless of the program to which it’s eligible. I hope owners will keep that in mind.”
Those wanting to enter horses can do so using the online entry form at tattersallsredmile.com, or by calling the sale office at (914) 773-7777. Entries will be accepted until mid-June.
