Red Shores, Summerside Schedule Reminder

The 2010 harness racing season is starting to heat up as the calendar moves to Thursdays and Saturdays for Red Shores at Charlottetown Driving Park while the Wednesday schedule begins at Red Shores at Summerside

Raceway on May 26. Post times are scheduled for 7 p.m.

The first Thursday night feature of the 2010 season has a tough match-up including two newcomers battling for the top spot. Cyclone Duharas, owned by Allan and Andrew Moore, has been super sharp in his last two starts since arriving from the Ottawa racing circuit. Andrew Moore will handle the six-year-old gelding from Post 4. The morning line favourite was second in 1:57.3 in his last race and gets some class relief for this match-up. It won’t be easy.

The field includes Seawind Motion with Earl Smith driving for the Bluefin Stable and Porthill Galaxy with driver Michael Stevenson. These horses can get off the gate so the opening fractions should be hot. The inside trio has newcomer Courtside, who just arrived from Flamboro Downs for trainer Mitchell Tierney and driver Corey MacPherson. Electric Moves, trained by Paul Holmes, and Sounding will also apply pressure leaving from posts two and three respectively. Cheyenne Harvey has a tough assignment from Post 7 but the Gary Poulton-Alan Walker owned pacer had a solid 2009 campaign for regular pilot Vince Poulton and looks for another strong season of competition.

Some other notables from race analyst Les MacIssac include the value play of the night to Leave Me Go in Race 1, Southwind Angie gets the most probable in Race 8 while Courtside is labeled as the longshot play of the night.
