Randy James Edmonds, age 67, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2023 in Ann Arbor, Michigan surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 6, 1956 at Community Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan to Cleve and Verna (Moldenhauer) Edmonds. Randy followed in his father’s footsteps, training and driving Standardbred harness horses throughout the United States and Canada, where he amassed more than 1,000 wins in a career spanning over 40 years. When the harness racing industry took a downturn within the United States, Randy fell back to his roots in the manufacturing industry where he remained dedicated to his work and was well liked among his co-workers.

Randy enjoyed riding his motorcycle in the warm Michigan summers, as well as rooting for the home team during whichever sports were in season. He always found great enjoyment in the company of family and friends; from socializing with coworkers, to long visits with family members throughout the country, to casual conversations among his expanding list of friends. Though life kept him busy, he always made time for others, something his friends and family will never forget. Randy was always focused on both reminiscing of good times that had been, as well as looking forward to more memories to make with those surrounding him.

He is survived by his wife Robin (Dohn) Edmonds, daughter Brandy (Nicole) Edmonds, sons Bryce, Taylor and Nicholas (Alyssa) Edmonds. Also survived by his granddaughters Kenzie, Melody and Skyler, brother Ron (Sofia) Edmonds, and nephews Andrew and David.

A reception of family and friends will take place on Saturday, May 13, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, MacDonald’s Chapel of Howell. Memorial contributions are suggested to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Randy Edmonds.
