Screenings for skin cancer, thyroid cancer and diabetes will be available for free for New Jersey horsemen through the SBOANJ and the Backstretch Community Assistance Program.
All the testing will be conducted through the CentraState Healthcare System.
The $5 and $10 screening fees will be billed to BCAP. Horsemen will need to display a current New Jersey Racing Commission license for the free screenings.
The thyroid cancer screening will be conducted on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at CentraState’s Star and Barry Tobias Health Awareness Center, 901 West Main Street, Freehold. Screenings will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will be preceded by a lecture on thyroid cancer and risk factors by Dr. Amit Kharod at 6:00 p.m.
The diabetes screening will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Family Healthcare at Bartley Corner, 161 Bartley Road, Jackson. The screening is from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Dr. Joshua Raymond will discuss pre-diabetes and diabetes during his presentation, which runs from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Screening for skin cancer will be offered on May 9, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at CentraState’s Star and Barry Tobias Health Awareness Center, 901 West Main Street, Freehold.
